VETERANS CONTINUE STIR FOR CORRECTIONS IN

 OROP ORDER

PARA MILITARY PENSIONERS AGITATE DEMANDING

 OROP

VETERANS TRY TO BURN THEIR MEDALS

PARA MILITARY PENSIONERS AGITATING FOR OROP

Two events mark the Jantar Mantar area distinctly on OROP issue. The Veterans of Indian Army who thorugh their sustained struggle won the OROP from Modi Government, continue their agitation unrelented. They are not satisfied with the just announcement of OROP but demand for annual equalisation, 2013-2014 financial year as the base year for calculating pension, taking the highest pension scale of 2013 as the base for calculation and not the average as announced by the government, not to link OROP with the seventh pay commission and accept that OROP once implemented continue forever and in perpetuity.

The Veterans tried to march to the President of India's House but were stopped by the Police. Later a delegation is permitted to meet the President and submit their issues on Thursday. A 11 Member Delegation of Veterans is likely to meet the President shortly.

Another event is the Para Military Pensioners assembled in great number in Jantar Mantar on November 2nd to hold a protest for three days demanding the OROP to them also as like the Army Personnel. They pointed out that a total number of 33,678 personnel of Para Military forces have laid down their lives during wars and other encounters with extremists as against the number of 22,250 Veterans of Indian Army laying down their lives. The Para Military Forces are the first line of defence even during wars and the ignoring of them while granting OROP is injustice to them.

Thus the Veterans and the Para Military Pensioners are resorting to agitations for clinching their demands. We the civilian pensioners extend total solidarity to them. We also call upon all civilian pensioners organisations to come together to stand firm on winning their 'Parity in Pension between the past and future pensioners'.
