We bring the hardship faced by many Pensioners as well as Postal Family Pensioners on the issue of drawal of FMA (Fixed Medical Allowance) to your kind attention with the trust that necessary orders will be caused to be issued in this regard.
It seems that in many divisions the authorities are not taking serious attention to obtain the option of the retiring officials on their preference to draw FMA or otherwise. The problem is more serious with the Postal Family Pensioners as several such family pensioners who are either ignorant or unaware of the rules on the subject are put to hardship due to non-obtaining of option from them to get FMA or otherwise at the time of sanctioning of family pension. To cite an example we point out that more than 39 family pensioners under Tenali Division of Andhra Circle are being denied FMA on the grounds that they failed to exercise their option to draw FMA.
In order to mitigate this type of hardship, this Association requests for your kind action to cause to instruct all concerned that obtaining options towards FMA from all retiring employees as well as family pensioners is mandatory.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
K.Ragavendran
General Secretary
All India Postal & RMS Pensioners Association (CHQ)
